Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Chong served in the United States Marine Corps. He attended George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC and received his Doctor of Medicine degree. He began his post-graduate training with a Transitional Residency at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD, followed by Ophthalmology Residency at Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Chong is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is affiliated with INOVA Fair Oaks hospital. Prior to founding Virginia Adult and Pediatric Ophthalmology in Centreville, VA, he spent three years as a Pediatric and Adult Comprehensive Ophthalmologist at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Springfield, Virginia. Dr. Chong has volunteered on various medical missions abroad to serve people with limited access to medical eye care. These missions have taken him to various countries of Latin America and remote parts of India. Dr. Chong lives in Northern Virginia and enjoys running, golf, skiing and backpacking.
